Group brings free coding education to low-income NYC students

Founded by Jason Gibson in 2019, Hood Code is an organization that provides free coding classes to students who live in New York City’s public housing. The workshops introduce the basics of coding to kids ages 8 to 13, and have so far taught about 300 children in housing buildings throughout the city. The programming also helps them develop problem-solving skills, self-confidence and innovative thinking.

Black Women in Tech program has its first graduation ceremony

The first participants of the Black Women in Tech program of the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio in Cincinnati, Ohio had their graduation on Friday, March 15. The program offers Google Career Certificates in 6 areas: IT Support, UX Design, Data Analytics, Project Management, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, and E-Commerce.

EmmoLei Sankofa is a composer, producer, musician, artist, and creative entrepreneur, channels her expansive creativity across music, visual media, and fine art. Jillian Anderson and DeVynne Starks recently became the first Black-owned rideshare company, HERIde, to secure a contract with the world's busiest airport. This company/app allows female passengers to take a rideshare with a female driver, which gives them a better sense of safety.
